Student Leadership:

Oriana Holmes-Price // Board Chair

Oriana is a student at Rutgers University-Camden in New Jersey, where she’s majoring in Political Science with a Legal Studies minor. She started off with NJPIRG Students as a volunteer on the New Voters Project to ensure her peers would know when, where, and how to vote for the 2018 Midterms. From there, she’s grown into being the Higher Education Affordability Campaign Coordinator where she’s been able to see her campaign and the chapter flourish with an array of new student volunteers from every background who care about social and environmental issues just as much as she does.

Kayla Roskey //  Vice Chair

Kayla is the statewide Vice Chair and Chapter Chair at Rutgers-Newark where she runs our Break Free From Plastics campaign. She is currently a junior studying psychology.

Matt Sawyer //  Treasurer

Matt is a South Jersey native, and a sophomore at Rutgers-Camden studying political science with the aim of becoming a school teacher. He also serves as a Camden representative to our State Board of Directors!

Adrian Acakios //  Secretary

Adrian is a current junior at Rutgers-Newark studying journalism. She was elected in spring 2017 as a Newark Representative to the NJPIRG Student Board of Directors, and currently coordinates the Affordable Textbooks campaign at Newark.

Shivani Patel //  State Board Representative

Shivani is a sophomore at Rutgers Business School. She joined NJ PIRG as a volunteer on the 100% campaign and now holds both a state board leadership position and is the New Brunswick chapter’s Public Relations Chair.

Our Staff:

Samantha Gibb //  Organizing Director

Email

Sam oversees student leaders on college campuses across New England and directs campus organizing efforts on a variety of public interest issues. In previous roles with CALPIRG Students, she worked with USC and UCLA students to run a grassroots petition drive and city council lobbying campaign to pass a plastic bag ban in Los Angeles, effectively eliminating 3 billion bags from circulation. Over the past nine summers, the canvass offices she has overseen have raised $3 million for nonprofit advocacy groups. Sam lives in Boston where she enjoys biking, swimming and visiting beautiful places around Massachusetts.
