Student Leadership:

Maggie Lu // State Board Chair

Maggie is a sophomore studying Political Science and Psychology. After getting heavily involved with NJPIRG’s funding referendum during her first semester at Rutgers-New Brunswick, she ran for the chair of her New Brunswick chapter, as well as chair of the statewide NJPIRG board. As state and chapter chair, she works on building the chapter and mission of student activism at Rutgers. She is currently coordinating the Save the Bees campaign, while also managing relations with student government to advance support for the Hunger and Homelessness and Textbook Affordability campaigns.

Robin Luong // State Board Vice Chair

Robin got his start with NJPIRG doing some canvassing for the chapter’s funding referendum in his first semester of his first year. Through that, he has gained an interest in NJPIRG’s mission and all of the work that the students aim to accomplish. By his second year, Robin became the Campaign Coordinator working on the Affordable Textbooks campaign and soon after, was elected to be the Chapter Chair of NJPIRG at Rutgers University – Newark. He aims to work closely with the students and volunteers of Rutgers Newark, to help them develop their attitudes towards service and giving back to their communities.

Zoe Robinson // State Board Representative

Zoë is a junior studying Public Policy, Political Science, and Sociology. After getting involved with NJPIRG through New Brunswick’s summer canvass office, she joined the Rutgers chapter this last fall. After her involvement as the Hunger and Homelessness Campaign Coordinator, she ran for vice chair of her New Brunswick chapter as well as a director on the statewide NJPIRG board. As campaign coordinator and vice chair, she works with both the Rutgers and New Brunswick communities to reduce food insecurity and support the mission of student activism at Rutgers. She is currently coordinating the Hunger and Homelessness campaign while overseeing the Save the Bees, Textbook Affordability, and New Voter campaigns.

Dan Xie //  Political Director


Dan began her career in college as a student leader with CALPIRG, where she helped to bring high-speed rail to California. In her current role she directs the national political strategy for the Student PIRGs. She advises staff and students on strategic campaign plans and amplifies our work with coalition partners and at conferences. Dan has managed successful campaigns to cap global warming pollution, fight the high cost of higher education, and make voting more accessible for students. Dan lives in St. Petersburg, Florida, where she is an avid cyclist and climber.
